About Genevieve
Creating relevant and thoughtful content for your audience in a language they understand.
If you want to engage your audience, they need to understand you.
Science, medical and environmental topics are complex and nuanced. They come with their own languages, cultures and processes that often are lost in translation. You need written content that meets your audience where they are. But you don't want writing that is dumbed down or patronizing either.
My specialty is finding that line. I write clear, accurate and well-reported content that communicates the story and the message in ways that are relevant and impactful to your readers.
Hi. I'm Genevieve.
I’m an award-winning journalist, writer and editor who works with leading publications and institutions. I previously worked as a staff writer for the Chicago Tribune, Santa Cruz Sentinel and Patch, and my work has appeared in places like the Washington Post, California Health Report, WIRED and National Geographic News. I’ve created content for brands and organizations like Subaru, Stanford Medicine, Yale Medicine, and the American Academy of Opthalmology.
I write and edit articles, essays, blogs, profiles and communications, and I specialize in writing about science, medicine and the environment.
I’m a graduate of the University of California Science Communication Master’s Program, and have written prolifically about life from the ocean to the mountains of the Golden State. Now I’m based in Chicago, where I cover medicine, agriculture, climate change, Lake Michigan, and the social justice issues that accompany many of these topics. I earned my undergraduate degrees in biology and creative writing from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
